Phoenix Police Department – Patrol Hostage Rescue – Jan 9, 2021

Phoenix Police Officers responded to a man holding a baby hostage in the street. The man was armed with a handgun and had just taken the baby by force from the mother. The man stopped traffic at gunpoint and began firing the weapon. Police officers responded and confronted the male. To save the child, the officers fatally shot the man and rescued the child.

The officer who shoots is equipped with a department issued M4 type rifle with a 1-6 variable optic.
